MEDIUMS I WORK WITH
WOOD SCULPTURE
I experiment with both the additive process and subtractive process of creating sculpture in wood. In these processes I laminate, lathe turn, carve and assemble wood. I use design concepts that begin in nature and the human body. Isolations are done on forms that I observe then turned into the art piece.
METAL SCULPTURE
Aluminum and stainless steel are used for my outdoor pieces. The forms usually represent human figures in action or animals. The pieces are welded together to create the completed sculpture. I then grind them with a 24 grit sanding disk. The rough sanding lines are left on the piece to refract light in multiple directions.
SYNTHETIC SCULPTURE
I experiment with creating cubist and pop art pieces of sculpture using synthetic concrete. The forms are carved in high density foam and then covered with synthetic material creating a suitable piece for outside durability. The sculptures are usually painted since the synthetic material accepts pigment well.
